The workshop "Geoparks in volcanic areas: sustainable development strategies" has as main objectives:
1.
Promote the exchange of
information, experiences and good practices between local stakeholders, professional
and managers of volcanic geoparks of the European and Global networks, under
the auspices of UNESCO;
2.
Show the importance of scientific
knowledge and the interpretation of the volcanic landscape as a tool for its
promotion, valuing and protection at a local scale;
3.
Share experiences on management,
education and geotourism in volcanic geoparks;
4.
Organize and promote sustainable
development initiatives in volcanic geoparks based on geotourism and innovative
geoproducts;
5.
Promote new networking initiatives
amongst volcanic geoparks, especially with the Azores Global Geopark.
